I got my Keyoxide 2.0 working, it was little bit of struggle because my lack of node knowledge.
It's now up and running at Keyoxide

Yes, node needs reverse proxy, but I use nginx and it’s quite easy to do. Also some of the problems I had was at my end. I did it second time and I was able to run it in 5 mins (without the reverse proxy)

you can use www-data or apache for that.
I have different user for every website if possible.
I create them with
sudo useradd --system --user-group <username>

this way there is no home directory or password to maintain.
