Just hiked down to the bottom of the property to forage some more firewood and noticed there are *lots* of weeds growing. A field full of dandelions. Yay! It's alive! It typically only takes a few generations of weeds until there is enough organic material in the soil to support more complex things.
There's even grass in one of the paddocks, which was a real shocker when I first saw that a few weeks back. That patch managed to collect grass seed and topsoil blowing off the other paddocks during all the dust storms. Most of the others are showing some patchy weed growth but their full recovery is still a long way out - depending on what the future holds for rain.
